Fast changing times: Upgrade.
From this day forward, I will try to be more discerning with what I’ll be posting here. I will try not to put any mediocre art work or senseless rants on my blog and on your dashboards. I will try to be more professional, more sensible and more responsible.
I’m thinking about making this blog a…
Oh, how unfortunate is that. Read previous post.
If you’re wondering where on earth did I go, (have I gone missing or what?) fyi I just made another tumblr account to start anew. I’ve decided not to deactivate this account so that I may be able to use it in the future (whatever that means) and so that I can still look at (and laugh at) the stuff I used to do. If you’re still interested in following me, you can do so by visiting jencasusi.tumblr.com. I’m currently posting photographs of my current escapade. Thank you! Nice having you all! ♥
Pakapalan ng mukha. Walang hiya hiya.
I’m really proud to say that I’ve been a part of something that changed the outlook of people towards community journalism slash newspapers slash DevCom students and so on. For the past semester, I have been a part of the Los Banos Times, the community newspaper of Los Banos, run by the DEVC123 class of the College of Development Communication in UPLB.
Journalism wasn’t really my kind of thing but as what Dr. Serlie Jamias said, “We were all at the right place and at the right time.” And being involved in a jungle world full of interviews, phone calls, and red marks, made me realized that maybe, it was meant to be.
“Parang pag-ibig lang,” as what most of the Timers would say. It was not love at first sight. It was some kind of a Johari’s Window kind of thing. At first, I didn’t know that I would love what I’m doing right now, but guess what? I have the most inspiring and “illuminating” job that a person could ever have. Inspired from Maria Ressa’s Twitter description, a journalist is a pragmatist and an idealist. You can never lift both of your feet off the ground or bury one’s foot. I think the only way to survive this sleepless world is to walk ahead and bring people with you. It’s a tiring job but it is definitely fulfilling.

Lol for mashing the words. And yes, I’m still alive.
So here’s an update: It’s plain too see that I’ve been quite “busy” since the start of the semester. I honestly can’t find time to update this blog even during those wrath-of-Habagat-days where classes have been suspended. Owing to the fact that I’m already on my last year as a college student, I’m pretty hard-pressed with school works and absorbed with my thesis right now.
But anyways, I’d like to believe that I’m enjoying this semester because of the courses I’m taking and not just because of fun-filled Wednesday nights and coffee Thursdays.
So here’s some of the interesting things I’m loving about my last (hopefully!) first semester:
1. A peek into the wildlife.
One of my technical courses this semester is about Philippine Wildlife. Aside from learning about our endemic animals that are found in the wild, I was able to actually examine each specimen and learned to differentiate one from the other. I’m a non-Biology major (a communication student actually) and to be able to identify a certain species by its scientific name is quite something for me. Hmm or not?
Ahaetulla prasina preocularis
a subspecies of Draco volans or a species of Draco
Those post-processed pictures of wildlife above are some of my favorite amphibians and reptiles. I renounce any legal claim to those pictures; they’re all from the Internet. I just like to exercise some of the creativity left in my body. My technical courses have sapped all the creative juices in me. So yeah… don’t judge.
Hopefully, I could update this list tomorrow. I wish I could finish this list by the end of semester. It’s a wish, because a wish is an expressed desire for something that doesn’t happen always. Hahaha.
Customized planner for me!~♥
I cannot find any planner that suits my taste and needs so I decided to make my own! Made from 100% love! Of course, I added some Aztec-print look to it since I’m now liking ethnic designs. It’s thinner than an ordinary planner so that it’ll be easier to carry anywhere. It has trackers, charts and whatnots to remind me of some stuff like monthly fees and savings. I also added a mini pocket for thingies like Form 5 and library card. Heeeheee, I’m really loving this! ♥
And oh! I’d like to say hi to tumblr world! :D
